Our Story
Dr. Jeremy Wiygul kept seeing an issue both in his urology practice at Cornell University and at home. He knew it could be fixed. That issue was urinary leakage, otherwise known as urinary incontinence.
Huge numbers of patients presented with this issue at his pediatric and reconstructive urology practice at Cornell University. After the birth of his first child, his wife Cecilia, started experiencing the same symptoms.
Effective clinical solutions to urinary incontinence have been proven for decades but require up to 12 weekly appointments in a specialized medical office or invasive surgery. These types of accessibility barriers result in 2 out of 3 women currently not receiving guideline-based care for urinary incontinence. Even Cecilia struggled to find appointments for pelvic floor care in New York City.
An inventor of multiple medical devices, Dr. Wiygul wanted to develop a device that brought clinical-grade treatment directly to patients to get the care they deserve and fully move on with their lives.
That’s why he founded Pelex and developed the Pelex device, app, and telehealth system to make medical office care accessible from the home.
Now the Pelex team is on a mission to bring clinical-grade pelvic floor care to those who need it most, from the comfort of their home. Everyone deserves top-tier treatment.
